Slip Stitch Crochet Ribbing

Slip Stitch Crochet Ribbing

This is a very simple form of crochet ribbing that is made with slip stitches with a yarn-over.

I've made a relatively helpful video about it here:

It's really really versatile, and you can make all sorts of ribbing combinations with it for hat bands, sweater collars, cuffs, anything your heart desires. It feels, looks, and stretches very similar to knitted ribbing.

Instructions:

- Make a chain row of your desired length +1 ch

- * Yarn over and insert your hook through the 2nd chain from your hook

- Draw up a loop and pull it through BOTH of the loops on your hook. This will give you 3 working loops (just like half-double crochet does)

- Repeat for each remaining chain in the row, chain 1 and turn

-Working in ONLY the front loops (or back loops if you are doing a multiple row design)  repeat from * until your ribbing is the desired size.

Experiment with different combinations, I'm partial to the 2x2 on the blue beanie I'm working on :)
